Juneteenth Celebration Committee of Ventura County

We invite you to join with us in these efforts by becoming an active volunteer member and/or a financial supporter of the Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC).

MEET THE TEAM

Bruce T. Stewart, Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC) Leadership, is devoted to his family, his church and his community. A member of numerous humanitarian organizations locally, statewide and across the nation. He has been in support of Juneteenth Celebrations in Oxnard for over 35+ years and is currently President of Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC). Bruce is a testament to his passion of serving the underserved, uplifting his community, fighting for justice and for equality.

Julia Dixon has been volunteering with Oxnard's Juneteenth Committees for 11+ years and currently serves as Juneteenth CoChair. She enjoys being part of Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC) to inform, educate and celebrate our history with our community.

Angela Mitchell Landers has been volunteering with the Juneteenth committee in Oxnard for the past 10+ years, and currently serves as Juneteenth CoChair. Celebrating the end of enslavement of African Americans is an honor, a privilege, and a beautiful celebration that she is proud to help promote annually within the community. Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County (JCVC), moves forward as a nonprofit organization sharing knowledge of African Americans' contributions to American history.

Dr. Ruby Durias is a retired 40 year mathematics and equity educator from the Oxnard School District. She has been active with the Juneteenth Celebration Ventura County for 8 years and currently serves as Treasurer. The work with Juneteenth is a reminder that "NOBODY is FREE until EVERYBODY is FREE", so this work must continue.

Ron Robinson has been a United States Navy Veteran and Civil Service worker for 30+ years. He retired as a Navy Chief from Naval Base Ventura County, and he continues to work on the base today. He is devoted to community service in the Ventura County Area culturally and morally with integrity. He has been with the Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County for the last four years, as well as an executive committee member of the NAACP, MLK Ventura County committee member, a Past Master of Unity Lodge 22 Ventura County, Past Potentate of Amasis Terriplett 262 Shriner, and Right Worshipful District Deputy Grandmaster District 15 for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Of California.
